The train from Lauterbrunnen brings you straight into Wengen’s car-free village centre. Beyond the station are lanes, chalets and terraces with views back across the valley. Wengen is worth visiting for this village atmosphere, even if you have no plans to continue higher.
The village streets are hilly. Drivers leave their cars in the valley and come up by railway.
